On March 30th, the CSTO Film Curators hosted a film screening of the docu-series RE[ORIENT] by boston-based documentary filmmaker, Kate Bartel. The film is an ANGRY ASIAN GIRLS original documentary series highlighting Asian Pacific Islander American artists and activists in Boston. The series aims to challenge singular-narrative representation of Asian Americans in art and media. The Film Curators have worked tirelessly for the last 7 weeks to host this event with their hard work culminating in this wonderful community-based event. October 27th was the scariest night of the year at Castle Square Community Center! Teen Interns from both the Teen Program Internship and Square Tech’s Teen Internship came together to put on a night full of fright and delight! Special thanks to all of our teen interns, community volunteers, and the volunteers from Renewal Church who helped bring a little spook to all of our guests.
Thank you to all the guests who came to the 2nd Annual Youth Art Show on May 12th. The art show was a huge success and included presentations from all of the Teen Program interns about the work that has been made over the last year. Digital Illustrations, Photography, Videos and a preview of the youth-created podcast, Castle Speaks, was displayed. The work explored social justice topics such as the Civil Rights Movement, racism and xenophobia, feminism, and immigration. Castle Square Tenants Organization would like to say congratulations to all of the Teen Program Interns who worked tirelessly to put this pop-up show together.
