PROJECTS
Civil Rights Movement Paper
Teens will research and learn about the Civil Rights Movement including different artists that were active during that time. They will select a Civil Rights artist to write about in their paper which includes information about who the artist is, what type of art they do, what is one of their most popular pieces, and what the meaning behind the piece is in relation to the Civil Rights Movement. |

Current Artists for Social Change Presentation
Teens will work individually to identify and research an artist who is currently creating work for social justice movements (see Artists for Social Justice 2020 link). They will then compile their research about the artist and their works into a powerpoint presentation. Interns may also include slides about artwork they have seen on social media recently in relation to the BLM movement. Bonus slides can include artists they follow on social media (who that artist is, what works they produce, why the teen enjoys their art). |
